A common assumption is that timber buildings must be especially vulnerable to fire. In practice, fire performance depends on how the complete building is designed, detailed and constructed. Protective treatments and suitable wall assemblies can help slow the spread of fire as part of a wider safety strategy. Timber used in Domearc projects receives appropriate treatment, alongside carefully considered construction details. The essential point is the combination of suitable materials and correct techniques. Through our work with Remmers, we aim to standardise appropriate fire-protection treatments and develop our practice in this area. No single coating replaces a complete, project-specific fire-safety design.
